About

Profile Picture

Hi! I am an audio engineer, drummer, video editor and game & audio software developer based in Berlin. I make software for sound and games, sound for games and film, video for software and audio, and games for fun.

Music

FailOut

I just released the first single for my experimental electronic project FailOut. "Guilt & Monstrosity" is a piece blending concepts of microsound, musique concrete and noise to explore and sonically destroy right wing propaganda. It's out on major streaming services now!

I will be using this alias as an output for projects I do out of personal enjoyment and intrigue without the pressure of monetary success or broad appeal. The projects name is inspired by a data port I once saw on an audio unit which I have otherwise forgotten about. The next release is coming soon.

Slow Boris

Good news, aside from c̶u̶r̵s̶e̸d̵ ̵b̵e̶e̶p̷ ̶b̸o̵o̷p̸ music I am also the studio- and live drummer of the Jazz Funk band "Slow Boris". Boris is a five-headed behemoth who is light as the wind, sophisticated in a psychedelic way, and loves to shake ass. The debut EP "Livestreaming Poet" is on all major streaming platforms. Gigs will be announces as they happen.

Production

Playing the drums since 2002, over time I have picked up a range of stringed and MIDI instruments, learned to sing and got a degree in music production, allowing me to produce my own music and craft soundtracks for game and film.

I am currently gearing up to accept work as a live/mixing/mastering engineer for game sound or musical projects. I will be posting services on fiverr once I am ready to accept commissions.

Games

Manual Ontogeny

Experience the story of a human life through touch by playing a hand making its way through a surreal world made of everyday objects. With an emphasis on metaphorical level design, this experience aims to create intrigue about the interactions between and meaning of game objects, striking a balance of familiarity and otherness.

Taking stylistic inspiration from "Plug and Play", Manual Ontogeny will be a more linear, but no less puzzling experience. I am currently solo-developing the game using Unity and FMOD and would love to cooperate on code, art and story.

Audio Software

I build custom audio software in Max MSP and RNBO, either for use in Max for Live, or in any DAW via a port to VST3, or even in Unity as a bundle. If you have the need for any tailor-made audio software, let me know!

Next to my commission work, I offer a hand full of freebie devices over on maxforlive.com, feel free to check them out.

Binaural Beats Generator

Binaural Beats Generator

This device generates binaural beats by playing two sinewaves with an adjustable difference between them. It also offers 2 flavors of "monaurating" the beat as an accessibility measure for people with only one working ear. Check out the web application here.

Lucier Recorder

Inspired by Alvin Lucier's 1969 piece "I Am Sitting in a Room" I created a Max for Live device mimicking the process by which the original was made, bringing it into the digital domain and adding some extra features.

In the original, Lucier sat in a room, recorded a couple of sentences, played the recording back into the room and captured that playback again and again. Via this process, over time the natural resonant frequencies of the room reinforce themselves until most of the original speech is destroyed, resulting in an eerie, eroded drone.

This device allows you to record a 2 minute sample and play it back, either into a real room or through any range of desired digital or analog processing devices on a loop, automatically capturing up to 1h of performance for export to .wav, .aif or .flac. The device can also be operated in reverse, leading to interesting variations on the performance outcome and making it suitable as a sound design tool for printed effects.

Find the files on maxforlive.com and check out the demo video to understand how to work it. It's free!
